Moves to Digital Management of Electrical Infrastructure
The City of Manhattan Beach in California is beginning their migration of building data from paper as-builds, red lines, panel schedules, warranty info, and operations guides to digital format with SmartCSM. This is the first city in the United States to implement the SmartCSM software, and doing so will ensure that its team has the most recent and up-to-date data available when it’s needed. SmartCSM’s software also provides the City with a more streamlined, organized, and easy-to-read online data system.
The transition has started with Police and Fire departments and is poised to expand to its other City-run facilities. In addition to organizing and digitally mapping their electrical infrastructure, the City’s facility managers needed a way to instantly access their technicians’ data providing a view of where and when their electrical is being touched.
“It’s critical that my field technicians get data quickly and that I have a bird’s eye view of what they are doing; and SmartCSM allows us to do that,” states Sean Roberts Facility Supervisor of City of Manhattan Beach. “We have an incredible volume of paper data to manage, and as a progressive city we are looking to the future by instituting changes and embracing technologies that will save us time, money, and keep our employees safe.”

The City’s move to user-friendly, digital software has already made it easier for their techs to locate key electrical documentation – reducing their time in the field by as much as 30-40%. By streamlining technicians’ workflow and cutting back on unnecessary hours on the job, SmartCSM’s software has dramatically improved the City’s overall efficiency.
“Cities are complex businesses and entities to run,” states Craig Caryl, CEO of SmartCSM. “Our software simplifies and accelerates how they manage, access, and respond to operational issues as they arise – in a fraction of the time it used to take. We are proud to be partnering with such a progressive City.”

The City of Manhattan Beach is the first of its kind to implement SmartCSM, but as more businesses begin to see the importance of properly managing their electrical infrastructure, it will become increasingly difficult for major companies to function without digital assistance. SmartCSM is proud to be a pioneer of change in the electrical infrastructure industry.
SmartCSM is a cloud-based software platform that digitally maps and manages the electrical infrastructure of commercial, industrial, and multi dwelling unit buildings. Created by electricians for electricians, SmartCSM has paved the way for large companies to transition to one digital data management platform for their building’s infrastructure. The software easily allows building owners and facility managers to vastly reduce operational waste, increase accountability, and reduce risk while making their buildings smarter.
